BEST FEMALE ARTIST '19
DE VALLEY HOMETOWN HERO AWARD

Originally from Atlantic City, Sharon Sable grew up singing and found herself immersed in the teen pop world as a young recording artist for LaFace/Arista records in Atlanta, GA. During this pivotal time, she recorded with many of the eras pop/R&B heavyweights such as Pink, Babyface, Diane Warren and Boyz II Men. Feeling disconnected from  the music business of that time, she moved back to South Jersey, began performing with the area’s finest musicians and hasn’t looked back. Sharon Sable has continued to forge her personal path and lifelong  journey of finding solace, inspiration and an insatiable appetite for the hidden musical treasures that lay beyond the top 40.

Sharon continues to be deeply inspired by many of the iconic female vocalists ranging from Eva Cassidy to Bjork and from Blossom Dearie to Abbey Lincoln. Her repertoire ranges from classic vocal jazz to the many lesser known gems... Brazilian bossa novas to French swing music and, overall - some of the best songs ever written, as she likes to say. She also seeks out songs that speak to social justice, true courage, and gratitude... a repertoire that she describes as "music that softens the world".

Sharon Sable is recognized as one of the region’s most beloved interpreters of song with frequent appearances throughout the east coast including her current hometown of Wilmington, DE. She and her bandmates have performed concerts to sold out audiences at The Christina Cultural Arts Center (Wilmington, DE), Chris' Jazz Cafe (Philadelphia), Jazz @ThePoint Festival (Jersey Shore), Uptown Performing Arts Center (West Chester, PA), The Smyrna Opera House, Kennett Flash (Kennett Sq., PA), Mainstay Music (Rock Hall, MD) and The Philadelphia Flower Show in addition to regular performances for The Rittenhouse Hotel, Delaware Friends of Folk, and the South Jersey Jazz Society. Sharon and her quintet were recently featured performers at the 33rd annual Clifford Brown Jazz Festival.  Sable and her husband, multi-instrumentalist, E. Shawn Qaissaunee, recently had the honor of sharing the stage at an impromptu performance with the legendary Stevie Wonder in Philadelphia, PA.

In 2019, Sharon released her first full length, full band album. “Love Evermore” is a sublime collection of original arrangements of timeless jazz standards that are based on universal love and the path of awakening. The album includes songs composed by Dizzy Gillespie, Abbey Lincoln, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Mr. (Fred) Rogers, among others.

This past Spring ('23), Sharon and Joe Holt (luminary pianist from Chestertown, MD) released, “Once Upon a Summertime, the Music of Blossom Dearie”. It is receiving critical acclaim.
