Blossom Dearie (1924-2009) was known for her unpretentious vocal delivery and sophisticated piano accompaniment. Her music was ethereal, understated, impressive and bold. She performed lesser known gems of the Great American Songbook, was one of the voices of the Grammy nominated “Schoolhouse Rock” album, and went on to write and record original
Blossom Dearie (1924-2009) was known for her unpretentious vocal delivery and sophisticated piano accompaniment. Her music was ethereal, understated, impressive and bold. She performed lesser known gems of the Great American Songbook, was one of the voices of the Grammy nominated “Schoolhouse Rock” album, and went on to write and record original material with Johnny Mercer, Michel Legrand and Sting. Sharon and Joe honor the unique voice, extraordinary accompaniment and remarkable repertoire and career of this beloved jazz icon.
